The Nursing Program at Renton Technical College prepares students for employment as registered nurses in a variety of health care environments in the surrounding community. Successful completion of the program results in an Associate in Applied Sciences-Tranjsfer (AAS-T) degree and eligibility to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN). The program also prepares students to transfer to an RN-BSN program after obtaining their RN license.
The concept based curriculum supports students from varied backgrounds by relating new ideas to previously acquired knowledge in an engaging and supportive environment. Students are provided with many opportunities to develop critical judgement, analyzing information for making patient care decisions. Laboratory, Simulation and Clinical course provide hands on support. Nursing students will be equipped to provide safe, comfort-oriented, culturally responsive nursing care that meets the highest professional standards and serves diverse, multicultural populations. Utilization of nursing informatics and information technology providea optimal, evidence-based nursing throughout their careers.
