Admissions & Registration

Getting Started at RTC

How do I enroll or start at the college?

  1. Connect with an Entry Adviser
  2. Apply for Admission and Financial Aid
    • Apply for admission in person or online. This application will prompt the college to create your student account.
    • Apply for financial aid by completing your FAFSA application online at fafsa.gov.
      1. The FAFSA is a free application for loans, grants, and other money to pay for college.
      2. You can visit the Financial Aid Counter to submit any necessary documents (Building I-, room 218).
      3. If you have questions or need assistance with your FAFSA, visit the Financial Aid Counter.
      4. If you are a veteran or using VA benefits, call (425) 235- 5838 for an appointment.
  3. Assess and Review Your Skills
    • Some classes require placement, which is a review of your skills in math or English. This is more common for transfer programs and general education.
    • If you need placement, you can complete the Directed Self-Placement (DSP) online and ACCUPLACER test(s) in Testing Services (J-218)
    • Review any placement results with an Entry Adviser and select a program of study (I-218).

Student Online Services

Student Online Services Webpage

Students can apply for admission, register for classes and drop classes online, after they create their ctcLink accounts.

Entrance Requirements

RTC is an open-access or open-entry college. We recommend that students have a real interest and personal goals related to their chosen program of study, and that they are able to benefit from instruction.

Individual programs, especially in the Health and Human Services area of study, may have additional entrance requirements related to licensure. Other programs, such as our applied baccalaureate or BAS degrees, require specific educational credentials.

Additionally, some programs have limited space. We enroll students into specific programs in the order that they apply, so it is important to apply early.

Admission to the college may be initiated through online web admissions, in person, or by mail. Some programs require you to be 18 years of age or older; however, in some programs and evening classes, you can be 16 years of age.

Withdrawal

Withdrawal happens when students remove themselves from one or more classes after the first day of a quarter. You can withdraw online, using your ctcLink account, or submit an Add/Drop form to the Enrollment Services Office. Tuition will be refunded (paid back to the student) if the withdrawal is within the refund period. A student who has withdrawn may re-enroll in classes if an immediate opening is available, or with instructor permission.
