CCP 86 - HSE Math in Social Sciences


1 to 15 Total Credits
This contextualized course integrates math instruction with instruction focused on social studies. Possible topics include but are not limited to: world history, US history, WA State history, civics, geography, US and world politics, cultural anthropology, and contemporary issues. This competency-based class allows students to demonstrate skills and knowledge, and earn possible high school credit equivalents in Social Studies (US Government, US History, WA State History, and/or Current World Issues), Math, and/or elective credits. 

Course Outcomes
Math

  1. Analyze problems and persistence in solving them.
  2. Communicate mathematical solutions by using a variety of mathematical concepts and representations.
  3. Explain your mathematical reasoning.
  4. Listen or read the point of view of others, ask questions to improve understanding, and provide feedback.
  5. Model with mathematics.
  6. Use appropriate mathematical tools and strategies.
  7. Analyze and interpret graphs, tables and data.
  8. Use clear definitions in discussions with other users; specify symbols, labels and units of measure.
  9. Calculate accurately and efficiently.
  10. Find and make sense of mathematical patterns and structures.
  11. Look for patterns and/or repeated calculations to apply mathematical formulas and strategies.

Social Sciences / Social Studies
