CYA 111 - Introduction to Cybersecurity 5 Total Credits This course will explore ways cybersecurity professionals analyze networks and devices. You will gain an understanding of the different types of malicious software and the symptoms of devices affected by malware. You will learn about cybersecurity basics through projects and examination of your own privacy practices. Finally, you will examine attack techniques used against organizations and the defensive tactics to prevent and mitigate cyberattacks. You will examine and apply some of the industry standard approaches to real-world scenarios.
Course Outcomes

Identify and explain software and hardware vulnerabilities and different types of malicious software.

Identify and explain the different ways that attackers can infiltrate a system including, social engineering, Wi-Fi Password Cracking, Phishing, and vulnerability exploitation.

Demonstrate various ways to protect your data including your devices, creating strong passwords, and safely using wireless networks.

Understand and demonstrate your ability to perform backups and encrypt data.

Deploy Linux on a type 2 hypervisor and learn basic Linux commands to navigate the Linux command line.
