CCP 28 - Bridge to Transportation


1 to 5 Total Credits
This course will prepare students for RTC’s Transportation Technology programs: Automotive Technology and Autobody Repair & Refinishing. It will cover the reading, writing, and math skills needed to succeed in Transportation Technology programs. Additionally, students will map out a pathway toward receiving a degree or certificate by exploring transportation related careers and identifying a program of interest.

Prerequisite(s): Recommended entrance requirements: 

A student entering the Bridge to Automotive course, should be able to: 

  • Demonstrate aptitude and/or interest in automotive technology or repair 

  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form 

  • Apply basic math skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and addition, and convert between decimals, fractions, and percents 

  • Read at a 9th or 10th Grade Level 



Course Outcomes
  • Explore Transportation careers to find a program of interest.   

  • Evaluate how to meet program entry skills and financing options.   

  • Navigate Canvas, student email, college computers, and software.   

  • Use the internet to research automotive information.   

  • Develop strategies in goal setting, note-taking, and study skills.   

  • Use reading strategies to interpret auto shop text and diagrams.   

  • Apply basic math operations for common auto shop tasks.   

  • Develop public speaking skills to explain repair jobs.
