ABDY 250 - Collision Related Mechanical Repair

Using a combination of classroom theory and shop practice, students examine the effects of collision forces and study the resulting damage to the following mechanical systems: suspension, air-conditioning, heating, braking, and active and passive restraints.

Course Outcomes
  • Describe the fundamentals of how various brake systems work and demonstrate the procedures for manual and pressure bleeding. 

  • Define the elements of proper wheel alignment; including caster, camber, toe, thrust line alignment, steering axis inclination, and turning radius. 

  • Describe the design and operation of parallelogram, rack-and-pinion, and four-wheel steering. 

  • Explain the basics of front, rear, and computer suspension systems.
