MEDA 133 - Human Health, Disease and Treatment 3 Credits This course explores the impact and burden of chronic diseases and mental health. Students explore the causes, signs, and symptoms of non-communicable diseases as well as the diagnostic procedures, usual treatment, prognosis, and prevention of diseases commonly diagnosed and treated in the medical office setting.
Course Outcomes
- Explain the impact and burden of non-communicable diseases in the United States.
- Describe the prevention and treatment methods used for non-communicable diseases.
- List common generic and brand name medications used to treat common chronic diseases and mental health diagnoses in the outpatient setting.
- Analyze how social determinants of health impact chronic diseases.
- Research and present a non-communicable disease including signs, symptoms, etiology, risk factors, diagnostic procedures, prognosis, prevention, and treatment.
