WELD 136 - Welding Metallurgy 3 Credits Students learn the basics of welding metallurgy and inspection: steel properties, identification, specifications, hardenability and weldability and weld inspection.
Course Outcomes
- Analyze the physical and mechanical properties of steel and other metals.
- Identify the elements used to change the properties of steel.
- Differentiate between welding metallurgy and foundry metallurgy.
- Recognize the physical changes that take place in steel during the heating and cooling cycles of welding.
- Name the discontinuities that will ultimately lead to weld failure.
