NURS 119 - Reproductive Health Laboratory

Students recall previous knowledge and apply the concepts of reproduction, sexuality and development to basic care of women of childbearing age including postpartum and newborn assessment. Emphasis is placed on organizing and prioritizing care of the postpartum client and family.

Course Outcomes

Recall principles of assessment, health promotion, and therapeutic communication.
Perform a newborn assessment, and the peripartum assessment of the childbearing family.
Identify and prioritize nursing care to address comfort needs for childbearing family.
Conduct teaching to address the peripartum needs of the childbearing family including anticipatory guidance.
Perform safe pediatric medication administration including oral, topical, and injectable medications based on developmental client needs.
