MTEC 101 - Machine Technology I

2 Credits
This is an introductory manufacturing theory course taught in conjunction with MTEC 121, Machining Fundamentals - Lathe & Mill. The principles and techniques of measurement, cutting tool theory, saw operation, shop safety, and manual lathe and mill set-up and operation are covered.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of MTEC 100 with a 2.0 or higher.

Course Outcomes

Calculate proper cutting speeds and feeds per text and industry standards.
Demonstrate measuring techniques with a variety of machining measuring instruments.
Per instructor checklist demonstrate safety & first aid as required by industry standards.
