Introductory Phlebotomy course designed to give students basic knowledge of collection equipment, various types of additives used and special precautions and substances which interfere with testing. Select the types of equipment needed to collect blood by venipuncture utilizing appropriate devices. Examine and compare various types of requisitions and practice reading simulated doctor’s orders; report potential pre-analytical errors that may occur during collection; label, transport and process specimens. This course is for MLT students only and not for students wanting certification in Phlebotomy.
