HLTH 102 - Allied Health for Success and Career Exploration

This course is designed to provide a dynamic experience for students related to the allied health fields and gain an understanding of the expectations related to a healthcare career. The course will provide opportunities to learn and explore a variety of healthcare fields and learn more about the healthcare system within the United States. A major emphasis will be to encourage students to develop proactive approaches to goal setting, problem solving and the development of strategies for personal success. Classroom activities include individual and small group/team work, guest speakers, videos, lecture and demonstration/return demonstration. Subject areas covered include: study skills; information literacy; math for health occupations; human relations and communication skills; introduction to medical terminology; legal/ethical issues; basic life support (level “C” HCP) and first aid.
