BAST 078 - English Language Acquisition (ELA) Pronunciation

This course will offer instruction for adult non-native speakers of English to improve their pronunciation. Intended for students whose speaking skills were assessed at the Intermediate Foundations level.

Course Outcomes

Pronounce and discriminate among North American English vowels, consonants, blends and diphthongs.
Apply knowledge of common English spelling patterns in speech.
Define stress and apply common stress patterns in words.
Apply phonological and grammatical rules to produce basic rhythm patterns in phrases and sentences.
Interpret and use basic intonation patterns.
Use audio-visual technology to record and monitor progress throughout the quarter.
