Associate in Pre-Nursing DTA/MRP

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Transfer Opportunities

DTA Associate: 90 credits

Academic Plan: RENPNAS

Enrollment Point: Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer Quarter

The Pre-Nursing DTA/MRP meets all requirements of Washington’s Direct Transfer Agreement, between the community and technical college system and baccalaureate institutions offering a pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The program consists of 90 college-level credits. At least 60 of these credits are general education in areas like communication, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

Completing the Associate in Pre-Nursing DTA/MRP does not mean that you automatically can attend a four-year college or university. You must apply as a transfer student. If you are admitted to a degree program, you will have junior standing, and you will have met all prerequisites for the nursing major except as noted by specific universities.

Due to high interest and limited space in baccalaureate nursing programs, admission to all BSN programs is highly competitive with many qualified applicants finding themselves on waiting lists for admission. Your Pre-Nursing DTA/MRP meets prerequisites for many other bachelor degrees, in dental hygiene, human services, community and public health, healthcare management, and psychology.

You should contact potential transfer institutions early regarding the following:

  • Specific course choices in each area of the agreement where options are listed (humanities, social science);
  • The requirement for overall GPA, a higher GPA in a selected subset of courses or a specific minimum grade in one or more courses, such as math or English;
  • Admissions requirements for the school and your specific major (for example, you might need to apply to the university as well as its College of Nursing); and
  • Admissions timelines and deadlines.

Once you have finished all of the class requirements for this degree, you must complete the RTC application for graduation for it to be awarded.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  • Communication Literacy: Students will speak and write effectively, both as individuals and as members of teams.
  • Critical Thinking: Students will evaluate, analyze, synthesize, and apply information with clear logic.
  • Cultural Literacy: Students will explore diverse world cultures through the social sciences and the humanities.
  • Information Literacy: Students will access, evaluate, and use appropriate information sources according to ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Quantitative Literacy: Students will solve problems by interpreting, representing, calculating, and applying mathematical methods.
