MAP 228 - Introduction to Chronic Illnesses

This course introduces students to the treatment and prevention of chronic illnesses, integration of medical and behavioral health, and innovative models of care and barriers to care associated with low health literacy, limited English proficiency and quality of life issues .
Course Outcomes

  1. Assess impact of chronic conditions on quality of life. 
  2. Identify effective interventions. 
  3. Identify resources and offer alternatives for patient needs. 
  4. Recognize the whole person and the need for health care. 
  5. Recognize health disparities in the community.
