ANES 135 - Anesthesia Technology Lab V

This course offers an opportunity to build on competencies learned during Anesthesia Lab IV and practice advanced anesthesia competencies including but not limited to: blood management, cell salvage, balloon pump management and care, advanced rapid response to airway management crisis, care and use of emergency airway management devices, and hemodynamic monitoring equipment set up, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Prerequisite(s): ANES 101 and ANES 108 with a 2.0 or higher

Course Outcomes
  • Demonstrate advanced anesthesia technology skills in live-lab simulations, including blood management, cell salvage, and balloon pump support.
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot anesthesia and hemodynamic monitoring equipment used in the operating room.
  • Assist with advanced airway management and the use of emergency airway management devices.
  • Recognize and respond to anesthesia-related problems and airway management crises using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively within the operating room team while navigating the clinical environment and applying professional anesthesia technology practices.
