TAPE 143 - Introduction to Foreman/Supervisor Training 3 Credits The design of this course is to increase the awareness and understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a construction carpenter foreman. In addition to assisting the student with the transition to journeyman status and the expectations and requirements of a construction foreman, this course’s objectives will be achieved through: classroom lecture & discussion; group activities both in the classroom and in the lab; and by presentations from subject matter experts. Successful completion of this course will be achieved through each student’s participation and the instruction’s evaluation.
Course Outcomes
- Describe and identify motives, and the power behind them.
- Understand that poor communication results in bad performance.
- Know the basic process and elements involved in communication.
- Identify potential problems in the planning stage.
- Understand the key differences between craftsmen and supervisor.
- Know the importance of listening.
- Understand and develop skills to overcome barriers to communication.
- Understand cost control and the relationship between estimates and budget.
