NURS 296 - Complex Multi-Systems Alterations Preceptorship 4 Credits The student has multiple opportunities to synthesize and demonstrate the role of a beginning registered nurse under the supervision of the preceptor and monitoring by faculty. This includes authentic work tasks in the area of clinical decision-making, collaboration, evidence-based practice, informatics, life-long learning, teaching & learning, and quality improvement.
Course Outcomes
- Recall assessment skills, professional behaviors, therapeutic communication, collaboration, and safe medication practices.
- Communicate patient values, preferences and expressed needs to other members of the healthcare team.
- Engage patients or designated surrogates in active partnerships that promote health, safety and well-being.
- Correctly evaluate the intended goals and revise the plan of care on a continuing basis.
- Make clinical judgments and management decisions to ensure accurate and safe care.
- Analyze the role of informatics in the application of nursing care and consult with clinical experts before deciding to deviate from evidence-based protocols.
- Interact creatively and openly with others to solve problems to achieve client goals and outcomes in client care situations.
