CHEM& 121 - General Chemistry Credits 5 This introductory course discusses the basic concepts in general and inorganic chemistry. It is designed to prepare students for coursework in health sciences or more advanced scientific coursework by laying the foundation of the most ‘elemental’ science - chemistry. Topics covered range from the nature of atoms to chemical reactions and include homework, laboratories, exams and group exercises. Prerequisite(s): Placement in MATH 095 or completion of MATH 085 with a 2.0 or higher. Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the basic principles of chemistry, including: measurement, chemical elements and the periodic table, atomic structure, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, chemical bonding and molecular shapes covalent, and acid and bases.
