Following a review of ABDY 102, Surface Preparation and Masking, using live work, students learn the skills and competencies necessary to prepare various substrates for refinishing.
Course Outcomes

Demonstrate the proper use of the safety equipment and tools it takes to perform the job of preparing and masking a repair for refinishing.
Select the right grit of sand paper to DA feather sand repaired area back to apply primer surfacer.
Prepare new panels for refinishing with apoxey primer coats.
Mask repaired areas for applying primer-surfacer.
Determine the type of primers that will do the best job for the type of repair.
Chose the proper grit of sand paper to block-sand repaired panel.
Determine if the repair is ready for refinishing or needs more preparation.
Mask a vehicle for a spot-repair/ blend refinish, or mask to refinish complete.
