Computer Network Architecture, BAS

Prerequisite-Associate of Applied Science: 90 credits

Bachelor of Applied Science: 90 credits (plus additional 90 credits from associate degree) for a total of 180 credits

The BAS in Computer Network Architecture degree will prepare graduates for employment in the field of information technology. Computer Network Architecture is a high demand occupation that encompasses various aspects of computer hardware and software architecture and systems administration. Students with technical associate degrees in Network and System Administration, Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications, Information Technology, Cyber Security and other related areas will be good candidates for our BAS in Computer Network Architecture program. Graduates will receive a deep technical foundation in designing and implementing computer and information networks; performing network modeling, analysis and planning; and implementing advanced cloud and virtualization technologies at the enterprise level. In addition to a strong technical foundation, graduates will receive instruction in general education topics in science, communications, and quantitative reasoning; and will gain extensive experience working in teams, making presentations, and participating in on-the-job training. The degree will prepare a graduate to work as computer network architects, engineers and network managers, in a wide range of organizations and industries including corporations, nonprofit organizations, IT companies, and medical and research institutions.

Admission Requirements

  1. An earned associate degree (or 90 equivalent college-level credits) in Information Technology or related area from a regionally accredited institution. First consideration will be given to those with an associate degree.
  2. A minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA across all college coursework.
  3. A minimum 2.0 GPA in the following IT courses:
    • Computer Hardware, Desktop Operating Systems - 5 credits
    • Networking Fundamentals - 5 credits
    • Windows Server (Installation and Administration) - 5 credits
    • Linux (Installation and Administration) - 5 credits
  4. Completion of at least 20 credits of college-level General Education coursework with a minimum 2.0 GPA in English Composition (ENGL&101) or equivalent.
  5. Completion of Intermediate Algebra (MATH& 095) or equivalent.
  6. Personal statement - Applicants are required to write a 500 word maximum personal statement that describes how the BAS program will advance their professional goals. Example topics include previous career experience, unique attributes that the applicant will bring to the program, hardships the applicant has overcome in pursuing his/her educational or work goals, and other special considerations that the applicant believes will make them a good candidate for the program. The essay should be typewritten and in a legible font size.

Program Requirements


General Education Requirements


Students must complete a combination of 10 credits of Communication, 5 credtis of Quantitative Reasoning, 10 credits of Humanites, 10 credits of Social Sciences, and 10 credits of Natural Sciences. The remaining 15 credits can came from any area.


Students must meet minimum general education distribution requirements for a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Washington. Specific course selection will be based on the credits each student presents upon program admission.
