BAST 070 - Basic ELA (English Language Acquisition)

This course will support adult students who are non-native speakers of English to improve their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Intended for students with little to no knowledge of English.
Course Outcomes

Recognize, comprehend and respond appropriately to basic information questions, relevant personal information and basic classroom instructions.
Demonstrate comprehension of simple present sentences using basic phonics, sight words and visual clues based on recognition of the topic.
Demonstrate ability of basic computer skills and navigation of simple tasks.
Use basic simple sentences and vocabulary to answer personal information questions while using appropriate basic punctuation, capitalization and spelling.
Navigate all basic content and topics to meet their personal needs.
Apply mathematical language to navigate contexts and use tools
