DFT 101 - Introduction to Drafting

This course is an introduction to the drafter’s role in industry. Course topics include the fundamentals of manual drafting such as linework and lettering, scales, geometric construction, dimensional layout lead grades and the use of related drafting tools.
Course Outcomes

Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of graphic communication.
Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of technical drawings, industry standards and current business practices.
Recognize the most frequently used conventional drafting instruments and their purposes.
Demonstrate the proper use of scales including the mechanical engineers , architects, civil engineers, and metric scale.
Describe the various standard sizes of paper used in drafting in both inches and millimeters.
Illustrate the various types of lines used on technical drawings.
Demonstrate the most commonly used sketching techniques.
