SURG 195 - Operating Room Clinical Practicum II

The learner will gain practical experience in an operating room, surgery center or other surgery based clinical experience. The student will demonstrate clinical skills, work ethic and desirable employee traits.

Course Outcomes

Demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the Surgical Technologist in the perioperative setting, to industry and CAAHEP standards.
Demonstrate the desirable work force skills, including attendance, punctuality, teamwork and flexibility, to industry standards.
Improve performance and skills in the scrub role through repetition, continuing to move to more complex surgical procedures, advancing toward the skills of an entry level Surgical Technologist, to industry and CAAHEP standards.
Perform the scrub role during surgical procedures of selected surgical specialties, under the supervision of a qualified preceptor, to industry and CAAHEP standards.
