PILE 122 - Print Reading

This course is designed to teach the student the basics of blue print reading, basics of drafting, specifications, lines, abbreviations and interpretation of symbols used in today’s prints. Also covered is the use of math skills as they relate to solving problems that may arise in the print reading process.

Course Outcomes

Identify types of drawings used in construction.
Define print terminology as applied to various plan types.
Understand the language of blueprints, including basic symbols, abbreviations, types of lines used on prints and dimensioning.
Read plot plans, foundation plans, floor plans, elevation drawings, detail drawings, section drawings and schedules.
Perform related math computations as they relate to the construction industry.
